Mammologist-oncologist
Diagnosis and treatment of mammary gland diseases. Examination for malignant neoplasms and processes preceding them. A preventive examination by a mammologist is recommended for every woman once a year.
Unfortunately, neoplasms in the mammary glands, including malignant ones, occupy the first positions among diseases in women. Most cases are curable, especially if the disease is detected in the early stages of development. Therefore, examinations by a mammologist-oncologist are, first of all, of a diagnostic and preventive nature and are recommended to be carried out annually, regardless of the woman's age.
It is also important to take into account the relationship of breast health with the health of the pelvic organs, thyroid gland and liver. Detection of abnormalities in breast tissue necessarily indicates the need for additional examination of other organs of the patient. Therefore, when neoplasms are detected during the examination by a mammologist, it is necessary to undergo an additional examination by a gynecologist and endocrinologist in order to prevent the development of diseases.
A consultation with a mammologist-oncologist, in addition to an examination with palpation, necessarily includes an ultrasound of the mammary glands, axillary lymph nodes and mammography, in some cases CT and MRI are prescribed. Blood tests for tumor markers, general and biochemical are used only to monitor the condition of a patient with an already established diagnosis. In addition to malignant neoplasms, benign tumors, cysts, diffuse fibroadenomatosis and inflammatory diseases (mastitis) can be diagnosed during an examination by a mammologist-oncologist.
