Vaccination

For thousands of years, humanity has been plagued by various epidemics that have claimed the lives of millions. It was only in the 19th and 20th centuries when medicine was able to work out a salvation from some infections and significantly reduce mortality among the population.

Vaccination is a medical manipulation, the purpose of which is to safely "acquaint" the human body with a specific pathogen and to allow it to develop immunity to that. For this purpose, various vaccines are developed - drugs that have a weakened pathogen, a part of it (a section of cell side) or a dead part of unit (for example, a virus). These components contain those factors that trigger the immune response and allow the human body to "remember" an infectious agent so that it can "recognize" it quickly and, if necessary, prevent the development of the disease. The content of the vaccine however, can not cause infection, because it does not contain viable pathogens. The preparation also includes auxiliaries that enhance the immune response, preservatives that ensure the stability of the vaccine.

Vaccinations are currently the best protection against more than 20 infectious diseases worldwide, and often the only means of prevention, with no specific treatment for some diseases (measles, influenza). The efficacy and safety of modern vaccines has been proven by hundreds of large-scale studies, and the dramatic reduction in the incidence and mortality rates of infection in the regions where they have been vaccinated is also significant.

There is an approved list of mandatory vaccinations in Ukraine, including vaccines of the following diseases:

  • diphtheria
  • tetanus
  • measles
  • pertussis
  • mumps
  • rubella
  • polio
  • Hepatitis B (since 2002)
  • tuberculosis

Hepatitis B is currently inoculated with infants and those adults who have not received this vaccine within the national calendar should consult their doctor. In addition to mandatory vaccinations, vaccines against smallpox, meningococcal infection, hepatitis A, rotavirus, human papillomavirus, yellow fever and influenza are registered in Ukraine. These vaccinations are recommended for everyone because they save lives and health. Don't neglect reliable protection and see your doctor today for a customized vaccination schedule today!
